Auditions will be held in the Marjan Kozina Concert Hall, Slovenian Philharmonic Building (Kongresni trg 10, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia) on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026, commencing at 14:00. About the position:The successful candidate will be offered a permanent, full-time employment contract, subject to a five-month probationary period. Job requirements: · Bachelor’s degree (university-level degree in music – previous programme) or Master's degree (Bologna second level degree in music)*· Slovene language proficiency**· Foreign language proficiency (English, German, French, Spanish or Russian)· Minimum six months of relevant work experience· Successful completion of the audition *Please note that if a candidate does not meet the educational requirements for the position, an exceptionally successful audition may be considered as a compensatory factor for the required degree, on an exceptional basis. **If a candidate does not speak Slovene, an exceptionally successful audition may, as an exception, compensate for the required language proficiency. THE POSITION Assistant Principal Bassoon/Contrabassoon Currently, the Bassoon Section consists of two musicians, Principal and Assistant Principal/Contrabassoon. As such, the Assistant Principal Bassoon/Contrabassoon currently performs primarily as Second Bassoon, is responsible for Principal Bassoon when the Principal is not in attendance (typically, at least one opera per season), Contrabassoon whenever required, and any other needed parts in the section. The Teatro alla Scala Foundation is holding an international public competition for the position of Principal Bassoon with duty of second, third bassoon and following. This is a permanent position at La Scala orchestra in Milan. The principal bassoon position carries additional responsibilities for second and third bassoon sections as well as other related duties. The audition and examination process will run from 15 July 2026 to 25 October 2026. Candidates must complete a competition application form and prepare specified orchestral excerpts for evaluation.

The Teatro alla Scala Foundation is holding an international public competition for the position of Principal Bassoon with duty of second, third bassoon and following. This is a permanent position at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The competition will run from 15 July 2026 to 25 October 2026. Candidates must download the full competition notice, complete the application form, and prepare the required excerpts for the audition process. This position carries significant responsibilities within the bassoon section of the orchestra.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is holding auditions for the position of principal bassoon. Auditions will be held on 25, 26 and 28 January 2027 in Amsterdam. Candidates should prepare repertoire including Johann Sebastian Bach, Suite in e minor, BWV 996, Allemande and Gigue, with the complete repertoire list available in Muvac. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra works to provide its members with suitable instruments, which are loaned to the musicians during their employment with the orchestra.
