This Privacy Policy explains how Classical Board ('we', 'us'), the independently operated data controller for ClassicalBoard.info, collects, uses, and protects your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Information we collect
Account data: name, email address, and password (stored encrypted) when you register. Profile data: role, instrument, location, and biography you choose to add. Listing data: any text, images, or documents you submit when publishing a listing, including contact details you choose to display publicly. Subscription data: the email address and category you provide when subscribing to listing notifications. Contact form data: your name, email, and message when you contact us. Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) collected automatically for security and troubleshooting.
2. How we use your information
We use your data to: operate your account and display your listings; moderate submissions and enforce these policies; send you transactional emails, including new-listing notifications for categories you subscribe to; respond to enquiries submitted through our Contact form; and maintain the security and integrity of the Site. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Legal basis for processing
We process your data under the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the account and listing services you sign up for); legitimate interests (moderating content, keeping the Site secure, and responding to enquiries); and consent (sending category-notification emails, which you may withdraw at any time).
4. Sharing your information
We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and only for the purposes described here: Supabase (database hosting, authentication, and file storage) and Resend (transactional email delivery). Contact details you add to a public listing (such as an application email or website) are visible to any visitor to the Site — please only include information you're comfortable publishing. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your data remains protected.
6. Data retention
We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with a legal obligation or resolve a dispute. Closed or expired listings are kept in an inactive state (not publicly visible) rather than deleted immediately, so that publishers can still see their own listing history.
7. Cookies
The Site uses only the minimal cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; request a portable copy of your data; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
