We have a vacancy for a Senior Musician or Musician/Teacher (Woodwind: Flute or Clarinet) within our team in Big Noise Douglas, Dundee. At Big Noise Douglas, you will be part of a team who work with children from pre-school, primary school, secondary school and adults. The team are creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning as we use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. We are currently offering Flute and Clarinet to the Wind band participants. As a Senior Musician/Teacher you will support the Head of Centre by contributing to the shaping of our work in the Douglas community by demonstrating best practice in musical delivery, leading on trips and events, and responsibility for one of the following portfolio areas: learning & teaching, youth voice, priority families, pathways or community engagement. As part of the team, you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances. This includes instrumental lessons, general musicianship sessions, and group teaching in our afterschool programme, as well as home visits and community performances. You will also provide leadership and support for Big Noise Musicians, enabling them to deliver the best outcomes for the children, young people and community members in the programme. You will have experience and success in taking on leadership roles and responsibilities, along with experience of problem solving and working in a dynamic/fast moving environment. We are looking for a Support Worker to join our organisation as part of the dynamic team in Big Noise Govanhill, delivering a visionary, socially driven children’s orchestra centre. Big Noise Govanhill runs an after-school programme 4 days a week during term time and a holiday school 4 days a week during the Easter, summer and October holidays. The principal duties of a Support Worker at Big Noise Govanhill are to support Big Noise musicians as they deliver the after-school programme; participating in sessions, modelling engagement and attention for the children whilst building strong relationships with the children and families to assist them in maximising their potential. This is a temporary post until the end of June 2027, working between 6 and 12 hours per week and between Monday and Thursday (exact hours and days of work to be agreed) term time only (40 weeks of the year). Direct ensembles at rehearsals, workshops and performances where required. Offer musical and programme-related support, advice and expertise to children, staff and parents where appropriate. Ensure monitoring and self-evaluation of teaching and learning methods, to track progress of all participants and develop best practice at an individual level and across the wider team. Support the team by providing knowledge and practical advice regarding instrument repairs, maintenance and instrument and accessory purchases. Attend communication, planning and development meetings as required. Perform related duties or projects as assigned / directed. Two days a week Radley College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled trumpet teacher to work with approximately 14 pupils. In addition to individual teaching, there will be opportunities to lead brass ensembles and support larger ensemble rehearsals through sectional coaching. This term-time position is offered on two days per week. As well as knowledge of teaching strategies, teaching repertoire and adaptability to the individual, the successful applicant will show an active interest and insight into current instrumental teaching, research and development, and in pursuing their own professional development as an instrumental teacher.
